BJP for bill on Telangana in monsoon session
New Delhi: As the Government inches towards formation of a separate Telangana, the BJP on Tuesday charged the Congress with “dilly-dallying” on the issue and demanded that the UPA dispensation not just make an announcement but bring a Bill on it in the Monsoon Session of Parliament. The BJP has also assured its support to Telangana related Bill in Parliament. “We will support the Bill to fulfil the aspirations of the people of Telangana,” leader of Opposition in the lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said on Twitter. She demanded the Government to bring the Bill for creation of separate State of Telangana in the coming Monsoon Session of Parliament. “Congress has betrayed the people of the region for the last 56 years,” BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said.
United Andhra supporters intensify agitation
Hyderabad: Students, employees and other supporters of united Andhra Pradesh continued protests in the Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra regions, amid indications that the ruling Congress would take a decision in favour of separate Telangana. The students' Joint Action Committee (JAC), which organised a protest in the port town of Visakhapatnam, demanded that the legislators from the regions resign from their posts to mount pressure on the Centre. The protesters held a rally in Eluru, the lok Sabha constituency of Union Minister KS Rao, in support of the united Andhra cause.
