‘BJP not to press for Ordinance immediately’

BJP prefers to rely on court verdict for the time being and is not thinking in terms of bringing immediately an Ordinance for constructing a Ram temple at Ramjanmabhoomi site in Ayodhya.

Senior party leader and party’s national observer for Bengal Kailash Vijayvargiya on Sunday said that the saffron outfit prefers to rely on the court for an early verdict on centuries old Temple litigation requesting the Supreme Court however to dispose off the case at the earliest.

The BJP spokesperson said his party would “appeal to the court once again for a verdict on the issue (Ram temple)” and said the court should be given sufficient time to take a decision.” He however added though his party was not thinking of an ordinance “as of now” it would take a call on it “if people’s aspirations keep increasing on it.”

The senior BJP leader who spoke to agencies on the issue also said that if any party had the guts to construct a temple it was the BJP and none else. “No one else (but the BJP) has the guts” to construct a temple he maintained.

On political dividend the Ram temple issue was likely to provide in the run up to the elections Vijayvargiya said the issue seemed to have done more harm than good to his party in voting terms. This was because the opposition parties misinformed the people on the BJP’s stand.

The opposition used the Ram temple issue to “terrorise the minorities and polarize votes,” which harmed the BJP’s electoral prospects to a great extent. The BJP has been under great pressure from its allies as also the VHP and other saffron organizations for an early construction of Ram temple.

“During elections, some sections of people raise this issue just to terrorise minorities. The issue doesn't help the BJP, rather it causes damage as minorities en bloc vote against us,” he claimed adding his outfit would construct the Ram temple by following the court verdict, without defying the constitution.

Meanwhile, the Bengal unit of the BJP has accused the opposition outfits like the Trinamool Congress for polarizing the electoral scene by painting it with communal brush.

Attacking Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee mollycoddling the Muslims through various state endowed schemes at the cost of the general population State BJP president Deli Ghosh said “you (Banerjee) have been announcing projects after projects for the Muslims. You have been announcing universities, it is, polytechnic colleges, schools and other schemes for the minorities as though the Hindus don not have any requirement, they do not feel the pinch of hunger or they do not have their aspirations.

“You have even forgotten the mantras of Durga Puja while frequently attending Iftars, wearing hijabs. Now when you have noticed that the Hindus are annoyed with your conduct your men are apologizing in private. But you have already alienated the people and soon you will get their reply.” ‘BJP not to press for Temple ordinance immediately.’
