Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav alleged that Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh workers from other States were being sent to villages in Uttar Pradesh to create trouble at polling booths and to vitiate the electoral process.
He further alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party does not respect the Constitution and was busy in hatching conspiracies at the polling booth level.
“The BJP is rattled by the groundswell of support for Samajwadi Party which has prompted the ruling party to devise ways and means to disturb the sanctity of the electoral process. Workers of the BJP-RSS are being drafted from other States into rural areas to disturb the electoral process during the 2022 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. Instead of accelerating the development process in UP, the ruling BJP has only created anarchy by promoting communal polarisation and it seems determined to sabotage the people’s mandate,” Akhilesh charged on Tuesday.
The SP chief further said that the BJP had already created several doubts over the transparency, integrity and non-partisan character of the Election Commission.
“The hacking of the website of the Election Commission by a youth of Saharanpur is a very serious matter and there should be a high-level investigation into it. Only a fair investigation will reveal whether the hacking of the website was a government- backed ‘dark operation’. Power has gone to the head of the BJP brass and the government is trampling over the rights of the citizens and opposition party leaders are also being targeted. But people of the state are desperate for a change of guard in the 2022 assembly elections and the defeat of the BJP is a foregone conclusion,” he said.
