Filmmakers Anurag Kashyap and Vasan Bala will present “Aakhri Ride,” a film starring Chandan Roy that is set for release October 31.
The film is directed by debutants Vijesh Rajan and Yashoda Parthasarthy. Aamir Dalvi and Faisal Malikk are among the other cast members, according to a press release. Ranjan Singh, Vishesh Agrawal, Rajan EPK and Kashyap are producing.
The story centers on a Mumbai ride-share driver who is pushed to the edge over one desperate, chilling night. It is a tense, character-driven narrative.
Kashyap said in a statement that he has worked with Rajan and Parthasarthy for years and always believed they are excellent storytellers with a unique visual language. He said backing them as writer-directors was an easy decision, and that he is excited to see how audiences respond to their first film on Halloween Day.
Bala said the filmmaker Srinivas introduced him to Rajan, whom he called a “Wiz Kid.” He said he and others had long admired Rajan’s VFX skills and saw a sensitive, fun storyteller in him. After watching the duo’s short film, Bala said, joining the project was a no-brainer. He described the short as sharp, fun and quirky, with a beating heart.
