A 73-year-old woman was allegedly found murdered with her hands and leg tied by clothes from her house in Malviya Nagar area of South Delhi on Tuesday.

Police claimed that they are suspecting that the murder can be the result of the property dispute between the family and the role of insider is also under the investigation.

According to police, the deceased identified as Chandramukhi Gulia used to live at her house in Savitri Nagar area. “Chandramukhi was living on the first floor of the house whereas her son Kuldeep lives on third floor. The family is a native of Haryana,” said a officer.

He said, “Items inside the house were scattered and during investigation they came to know that there was a property dispute.”

Requesting anonymity, a family’s close aide said, “Chandramukhi used to call Kuldeep in the morning to switch on the water motor before going to his work. But today she did not call anyone which led to the suspicion and when Kuldeep went to check in her room he found the gate was already open and his mother was lying on the floor.”

He said her face, legs and hands were tied with rope.

“The whole room was ransacked and cupboards were open. I immediately opened the ropes and tried to talk to my mother but she did not respond,” Kuldeep said.

Chandramukhi was living here with her son Kuldeep and his family. Two of her other sons live in Canada and US. The deceased’s husband passed away a few years back.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Chinmoy Biswal said that they are probing the case from all angles which also include property dispute.

“We are waiting for postmortem report to know the exact cause of the death. However, the blood samples and finger prints have been collected and sent to the forensic department. Only after getting all the reports certain things will be clear,” said Biswal.

Accordingly, case under Section 302 (punishment for murder) has been registered at Malviya Nagar police station and investigation has been taken up, police said.
