A 55-year-old woman was found dead with her throat slashed in her Chawala home of South West district on Saturday night, police said on Sunday. A native of Uttarakhand, Basanti was staying with his son in Qutub Vihar and she was found lying in a pool of blood on the floor of her house with her throat reportedly slit, said police that rushed to the locality after receiving a PCR call at 8 pm on that fateful day.

“The entry to the house appears to be friendly. No valuables are missing from the house but the room was ransacked to disguise the murder look as a robbery. We suspect the role of an insider,” said a senior police official. Police said they are trying to get CCTV footages from the the locality and also taking help of local inputs and technical surveillance to get any possible clue in the case.

“When I reached home from office, I found the main gate open. When I entered the house, I was shocked to see my mother lying on the floor. Her throat was slit, and a kitchen knife was found next to her body,” said Rajendra Kumar, the deceased’s son.
