Delhi University’s prestigious St. Stephen’s College has begun the search for its new principal as Valsa Thampu’s term ends in February next year. The Supreme Council of the college has initiated the process and has given advertisements in news papers. Also, the info was posted on the official website of the college on Tuesday.
“We have begun the search for the post of the principal. The proceedings of the Supreme Council have its own sanctity. Everything will be done in a perfect and transparent manner and every effort will be made to get the best person to run the institution,” Thampu who is also Member Secretary of the Supreme Council told The Pioneer.
Thampu joined the college in 1973 and pursued his studies, took up the job as a lecturer and rose to become the principal of the college in 2008.
Talking about his journey, Dr. Thampu said, “It’s been a wonderful journey. I will not be nostalgic because I am a person who looks forward to things. My nature is to give to my fullest. If I am given a responsibility, I give my 100 per cent. The moment my tenure ends, I will move on to other things.”
Recently, the out-going principal was surrounded by a series of controversies. In one of his lectures, he had said, “Controversies have been the grammar of my service but I have thoroughly enjoyed each of them till their last leg.”
