Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday met Ramanjeet Kaur, who was hit with a brick by a head constable of Delhi Police in posh central Delhi locality. Kejriwal said that the city needs citizens like her who could speak up against prevailing corrupt practices.

Kaur, who was accompanied by her husband Gurdeep met the Chief Minister at the Delhi Secretariat, who assured her better medical treatment after she complained to him about not getting treatment for her injuries, an official statement said.

“We are proud of you. We are with you and will do whatever we can. Delhi needs citizens like you, I alone can’t change the system, we all need to work together to change the corrupt practices prevailing,” Kejriwal said.

The woman and her husband complained to the CM that they were not given a copy of the FIR and that she did not get proper medical treatment. To which, the Chief Minister told them that he would arrange the copy of the FIR and assured her of proper treatment, the statement said.

The Delhi CM then instructed Health Minister Satyendra Jain to arrange for better medical treatment of the woman. Jain later met Kaur and her husband and arranged for her treatment, the statement further added.

The traffic head constable Satish Chand was seen hitting Kaur with a brick in Central Delhi’s Golf links area after an altercation in a video clip. The clip showed Kaur throwing a brick at the head constable’s motorcycle and it followed an angry reprisal from the traffic policeman who hurled a brick at her. The brick hit her on her back and she sustained injuries.

The cop was later arrested and dismissed from the service as the incident triggered widespread outrage after the clip of policeman attacking the young woman with two children at Golf links area went viral.
