Water supply to be hit in parts of city

Staff Reporter

Water supply would be affected in most parts of the city due to discharge of industrial waste from neighbouring Haryana into River Yamuna.

The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has said that after raw water quality found deteriorated, water treatment has been curtailed at "Water Treatment Plants" (WTP) at Wazirabad, Chandrawal and Okhla. Further, rationalisation of drinking water is also being done at other plants, the board said.

"Due to the increase in pollution, many areas, including North Delhi, Central Delhi, part of West Delhi, part of South Delhi and whole the NDMC areas, will remain affected and water supply will be available at low pressure," the board said.

DJB has advised citizens to make judicious use of water. It has also advised to contact the helpline numbers in emergencies.

The numbers are 1916, 23527679, 23634469 (Central Control Room), 23810930 (Chandrawal), 29234746/ 29234747(Greater Kailash), 23537397/23677129 (Idgah), 25223658 (Punjabi Bagh), 27619244/ 27617609 (Burari) 27677877/ 27681578 (Kewal Park).
