Vigilance probe into Swarup Nagar SHO misconduct upheld by DCP

The vigilance inquiry ordered into the misconduct of Station House Officer (SHO) of Swarup Nagar police station of North-West Delhi has been substantiated to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) N Gnana Sambandan. The inquiry was ordered by the DCP following a report published in The Pioneer on February 12, SI blows whistle on ‘corrupt’ boss and that was based on daily diary entry made by a sub-inspector Govind Sharma against his own SHO Sanjay Kumar Drall for patronising unauthorised construction in the area. Interestingly, few days back, Sharma has received a transfer order of FRRO.

In his complaint in the DD entry no. 221013, Sharma claimed that beat officers were abetting illegal constructions in Khasra No. 1120 and Khasra No. 327 in Garhi Khusro Village in Swarup Nagar despite a Sub Divisional Magistrate’s (SDM) order for restraining construction. “When Sharma questioned beat constables about this illegal construction, they replied that they had taken the permission of SHO Drall,” police sources said.

Police sources said the DCP Sambandan ordered a vigilance inquiry on February 13 itself and the inquiry was conducted by an Inspector rank officer. “During inquiry, it came to fore that the illegal construction work was going on in Khasra No. 1120 even after the restraint order of the concerned SDM and four storied building was constructed. Police personnel, including the beat constables have not even deemed it fit to intimate the concerned SDM about the illegal construction activity and they were allowing the illegal constructions to go on,” police sources added.

The investigation conducted by the vigilance department of North-West district has also revealed that even the concerned SHO Drall and his seniors who check the DD entries regularly very conveniently looked the other way and did not initiate any action against the SHO Drall for the last three months and the matter has been kept under the wraps from the police brass by the SHO Drall and his cronies. It has also been learnt that the SHO Drall has managed to circumvent the enquiry and is pitching for a departmental action against the SI Sharma. “After conducting the inquiry, a report of two pages has been submitted in the office of the DCP Sambandan and there is a strong possibility that some action will be taken by him in coming days,” police sources said.
