Verma hopes to tap anger of residents

Pioneer

After being given a ticket from Mehrauli, you faced a strong resistance from within your party as well as people of the area. Will this impact on your prospectsIJ

I am unfettered by the outsider tag, as it does not matter much. Though it seemed like an uphill task to earn a reputation among the inhabitants as well as to know the area, door-to-door campaigning has helped immensely. The prospects, according to me, appear good from the seat as people are seething against the seating MlA as he has failed them miserably.

Would Mundka or Shalimar Bagh have been a better option to contestIJ

I differ on this viewpoint. The two seats are already BJP’s citadels and can be won comfortably. They would not have offered the kind of challenge that Mehrauli offers me during my first Assembly Election.

Does it add to the pressures, you are facing, being the son of Sahib Singh VermaIJ

Undoubtedly, my father’s shoes are too large to fill as he has been untiringly involved with the benefit of the common people. It is due to his good work that today my dependent on my father and I am known as the son of Sahib Singh Verma. Not only do I face a lot of pressure to win the seat but will also have to prove my worth to the people, if I get elected. The expectations are high but my party workers are trying their best to wrest the seat from the Congress.
