'Verdict clear capital punishment for AAP'

Union Urban Development and Housing Minister Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday said that the Congress is getting weaker and also appealed to the Opposition to work in tandem with the BJP.

“The poll results are a clear capital punishment for Aam Admi Party which was indulging only in negative politics in spite of getting a huge mandate in the last Assembly polls”.

“The negativism, political ambition, unwarranted aggression of AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and his party has disillusioned the people of Delhi. They have lock, stock and barrel rejected AAP in this election,” he said.

“People of the country voted for Narendra Modi to rule the country and for Kejriwal to rule Delhi. While Modi advocated Team India approach for developing the country, Kejriwal preferred confrontation at the cost of the people of Delhi,” he said while reacting to the BJP’s victory in the municipal corporations in the national Capital. “In a nutshell, AAP paid a heavy price for its arrogance, ambition and misplaced priorities,” he said.

“Even after today’s drubbing, the AAP does not seem to be learning the right lessons. They are again blaming EVMs for their massive defeat,” Naidu said.

He also said that Kejriwal has blamed the media and politicians for the party’s shortcomings but he is not ready to accept the people’s verdict. He said there are weak spots in the Congress which are now sprouting up in the AAP as well.

Naidu alleged that the AAP Government tried to stop the municipal bodies, led by the BJP, from performing by not releasing funds. “Intelligent people of Delhi have seen through this negative tactics of the Kejriwal Government and taught his party a befitting lesson,” he claimed.

The AAP paid a heavy price for “its arrogance, ambition and misplaced priorities”, the Minister said.

“Kejriwal was rejected in Varanasi, Goa, Punjab and now again in Delhi in a row. This has huge implications for negative politics. The message is crystal clear that people will no longer accept such arrogant and negative politics,” Naidu added.

The Union Minister also hailed party president Amit Shah and Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari.

“Meticulous planning by BJP president Amit Shah, ground level execution by Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari and hard work of local leaders and workers helped the party in this important election,” he said.
