Forged documents, laptop, printer and a stamp of Government hospital have also been recovered. “On Monday, information was received that kingpin of a gang involved in getting students admitted to Sri Venkateswara College of Delhi University on the basis of forged documents would come to Dwarka in a Ford Endeavour. A team under the supervision of KPS Malhotra was formed and Arvind Yadav (28), a resident of Gurgaon, was apprehended,” said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashok Chand. Forged documents and a forged stamp of a doctor of a Government hospital were recovered from his possession. A case under the appropriate Sections of the law was registered at Crime Branch police station and he was arrested, said Chand.

During interrogation, Yadav disclosed that after completing his graduation from a college in Delhi University, he had set up a transport business. However, the earnings from his business were not enough to sustain his lavish lifestyle. Being a former DU student, he was aware about the loopholes in the admission process and decided to exploit it. He roped in Daya Ram (36), a resident of Bulandshahr, UP, who arranged forged documents including educational certificates. According to Chand, Arvind Yadav got three students admitted on the basis of forged documents to Sri Venkateswara College in 2013. This included the admission of one of their associates Mukesh Mann (19), a resident of Gurgaon, who had even failed his 10+2 examination in 2013.

In the year 2014, the racketeers had got at least 10 students on the basis of forged marksheets, caste certificates, transfer certificates, character certificate and physical disability certificates in the prestigious college. Relevant documents of the students that are suspected to have secured admission on the basis of forged documents, have been obtained from the concerned college and are being scrutinised. Daya Ram and Mukesh Mann have been arrested. A laptop and printer have also been recovered. The racketeers used to charge Rs3 lakh to Rs5 lakh from prospective students for getting them admission in prestigious colleges.
