South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Wednesday distributed handbills to spread awareness on vector borne diseases among morning walkers in all the wards of South Delhi.
A senior Corporation’s official said that Dengue transmission occurs during the rainy season when the temperature and humidity are highly favourable for mosquito breeding. “Weakest chain in dengue control process is controlling mosquito breeding by reducing breeding containers. Hence, awareness among the public is being disseminated by distribution of handbills, pasting of stickers, display of calendars, school rallies, RWA meetings, hoardings, panel inside metro trains etc,” he said.
Dengue and chikungunya are the fastest spreading viral disease transmitted by Aedes Aegypti mosquito. Aedes mosquito has habit of breeding in artificial water collections and containers like desert coolers, overhead tanks, etc.
