The US-based woman who had earlier tweeted about her experience with the accused cab driver Shiv Kumar Yadav has responded to the Delhi Police via e-mails. The woman had also uploaded a picture of the payslip on Twitter when she hired the cab showing the photograph of the driver and the name.

Nidhi Shah, who was in India for a week during the last week of November, has in a series of tweets on Tuesday said that during her trip in his cab, Shiv Kumar Yadav had stared at her through the rear view mirror. Police contacted her on Twitter and said she can lodge a complaint with them in this connection. However, she had not responded to the tweet till Wednesday evening. Police officials claimed that she later replied and interacted with the Delhi Police via email. Shah also sought legal opinion and advice from police officers on how to take her complaint forward.

Shah in one of her tweets had also claimed that she had reported the matter to Uber, but they did not revert. Delhi Police will now prepare a reply for Shah mentioning under what sections she can register her complaint and what consequences it will have. Under the new amendment, staring is also considered an offence and the accused can be booked under section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).

Police officials have also informed Shah that if she wishes to make a formal complaint against Yadav, she can send her complaint via e-mail.
