Two Delhi Police constables were dismissed on Sunday for attempting to rape a teenage girl in North Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar area. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) N Gnana Sambandan said constables Amit Tomar and Gurjinder Singh were dismissed as they had attempted to violate a girl in Mukherjee Nagar.
“The victim was loitering in West Delhi’s Vikaspuri area with two friends of hers when Tomar, on the pretext of giving them pecuniary gains, took them to Singh’s residence in North Delhi’s Kingsway Camp,” he added.
“Singh was already present there and both constables tried to force themselves on the girl. After hearing her screams, the two girls in the other room also started crying for help,” said the DCP, adding that the girls were rescued after someone from the vicinity called up a
Police Control Room (PCR) and informed about the incident. The victim was taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital for a medical examination, which confirmed sexual assault.
Based on the victim’s statement, a case was registered at Mukherjee Nagar Police Station. A Special Investigation team, under the supervision of Pramod Kushwaha, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South District), has been formed to probe the case.
