A two-and-half-year-old girl was raped by her neighbour in North West Delhi’s Azadpur area on Saturday. The accused identified as Shiva (23) has been arrested after he was caught during the act by family of the victim.
“The mother of the victim was searching for her daughter when she could not find her inside the house. On hearing her screams she ran to the terrace of the building where she caught Shiva during the act. Shiva was later arrested,” said a police official. The victim also had palm imprints on her face that suggested that the accused even bet her up.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening around 5 pm. The accused and the victim reside opposite to each other. The mother of the victim was sleeping inside her house with her two children. Shiva entered the house and took the minor girl to the terrace. The mother later woke up and found her daughter missing.
She immediately began hunting for her daughter and on hearing screams from the terrace she ran up there and caught Shiva red handed. She immediately informed the police. The girl was rushed to a nearby hospital. The medical examination confirmed rape. Shiva works as a labourer. A case of rape has been registered at Adarsh Nagar police station.
