Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari on Thursday held a talk session with social media activists who have been regularly interacting with him. Tiwari had started his social media activist series last year on July2 and followed it up. The theme of the discussion was How to Fight the Fake News on Social Media.
Arun Anand, Senior Journalist, gave details of the number of users on the various mediums of social media like Facebook and Twitter in India and the increasing number of fake profiles being made on the forums. "Using these profiles for posting comments might look useful for a few days but ultimately it damages our credibility," said Anand.
He mentioned how he fought the false propaganda about non performance of MCDs during the campaign. Tiwari also replied we had an option to fight by retaliating with counter allegations but I choose to highlight the positive works of our MCDs like Power Generation through Waste Management, we issued statistics of new schools made by MCDs through social media.
