Sensing the mood of the traders across the city, political parties have jumped into the ring to reap the political harvest. On Friday, traders of the national Capital downed shutters protesting the ongoing sealing drive.

Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari welcomed the speedy amendments to Master Plan of Delhi 2021 and building bylaws considered by Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in its authority meeting on Friday.

Tiwari appealed to the Monitoring Committee appointed by Supreme Court to suspend sealing in view of the amendments to Master Plan -2021.

“After these amendments which are likely to get effective in next few days the cause of sealing in almost all cases will cease to exist hence the Monitoring Committee should now act with humanitarian approach to suspend sealing,” Tiwari added.

Meanwhile, the Congress president Ajay Maken expressed full support to the two-day hartal called by the traders in Delhi to protest against the on-going sealing drive. Maken also visited markets to join traders at A Block, lajpat Nagar-4, New Delhi, Arya Samaj Road, Bikanerwala, Karol Bagh, New Delhi etc.

Addressing the traders, Maken said that the 'Master Plan' made it very clear that the ongoing sealing drive was illegal, nor conversion charges can be collected after 10 years then how could the authorities carry on with these illegal activities with impunity.
