Third time lucky

For students who lost a chance to apply to their preferred courses under the second cut-off in the Delhi University, can now finally do so as colleges have opened their cut-offs for several courses in the third list. Kirori Mal College had shut admissions for almost all courses in the second list. However, it has now opened admissions for BCom programme, BCom Honours and History Honours. Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) is the only which has closed its admissions for the general category.

The general category in most colleges is the one which is the most vacant. Hindu College has filled up 820 seats against 729, but most are for the SC/ST and OBC categories. Thus, they have dropped their third cut-off for the general category. In the first list Hindu College has set a bar of 99.75 per cent for Economics Honours and then dipped it by a per cent in the second list. However, it received only 36 admissions for 62 seats under the course of which only six are in the general category. Thus, in the third list they have dipped the percentage to 97 per cent. On the other hand Miranda House, Ramjas College and IP College for Women have closed admissions for Economics Honours which was opened in the second list.

Admissions for BA programme have also opened for a lot of colleges. lady Shri Ram College and Ramjas College has both opened admissions under the course with cut-offs ending at 95.25 per cent at lSR and 95 at Ramjas. Hindu College has maintained its earlier 94 per cent for BA programme.

Kamla Nehru College has however, closed its admissions for most of the popular courses except BA programme, Economics Honours and Sociology Honours. In the two lists most colleges have filled up seats. As per the principals of various colleges, there may not be a need for the fourth list. In SGTB Khalsa College only 180 seats are remaining whereas Miranda House has only 50 seats remaining. The withdrawal rates at these colleges have also been low, ranging between 6 and 18.  However, admissions under the third list may be more than earlier. Admissions under this list will carry on till Thursday with the next list on Friday.
