A man has been arrested for allegedly killing his 15-year-old nephew as he suspected him of having an illicit relationship with his wife, police said on Tuesday.
Police said that they had recovered the teen boy’s decomposing body from a park in Dwarka’s Sector-18 area on August 1. His throat had been slit.
During the course of investigation, it was found that the minor boy, a resident of Badaun in Uttar Pradesh, was living in Punjab with his 42-year-old maternal uncle, who had come to Delhi before the body was found. However, the man during the probe had tried to mislead the investigators by claiming that he was not in Delhi and also had planned to falsely implicate his wife and her brother in the crime, said police.
However, police further said that his cell-phone was found to be active in Delhi around the time the boy died. But when he learnt that police were after him, the accused switched it off.
Several raids were carried out in Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun and Bareilly districts to nab him, but he remained untraceable, said police.
“On September 17, police were informed that he would come to Kailashpuri in Sagarpur area to meet somebody. He was arrested there, police said, adding that the knife used in the crime also has been seized.
The boy had come to longowal to live with his uncle and his wife in 2016. During his stay, the accused started suspecting that his nephew and wife were in a relationship and the boy was sent back,” said a senior police officer.
Though he had come to longowal in June again, he was not allowed to stay. The accused also used to assault his wife since he suspected her of cheating on him. She returned to Kailashpuri, Delhi, to her parents’ house, the officer said.
In order to implicate his wife and her brother, the man bought a SIM card in her name in longowal, and called his nephew, said the officer.
The man and the boy met at the Jakhal railway station in Haryana, and he brought him back to Delhi on the pretext of collecting his Aadhaar Card from his wife, he said. He brought the boy, Monu, to Dwarka and killed him and dumped his body and returned to Punjab.
