Staff Reporter

Two members of the Academic Council (AC) of the Delhi University (DU) and Indian National Teachers’ Congress (INTEC) has written to lieutenant-Governor Anil Baijal asking his “urgent intervention” on the issue of “non-release of grant to the 12 colleges of the DU that are fully funded by the Delhi Government”.

AC member Dr Pankaj Kumar Garg said, “The DU is witnessing a situation of complete standoff with the Delhi Government for quite some-time over the issue of formation of Governing Bodies of 12 cent percent funded colleges.”  “Common teachers, employees and students are suffering for no fault of theirs,” the letter said.

The teachers are pained to share with you that Delhi Government is taking punitive measures at short intervals by not releasing grant to meet the salary requirement of both teaching and non teaching employees and other expenditure of college,” stated the letter addressed to lG.

According to the teachers the alleged standoff between the Delhi Government and DU over the issue of formation of Governing Bodies is a cause of grave concern among all teachers and students as the “non-release” of grant is ultimately causing the college, teachers and students to suffer.
