Tata Power relaunches scheme for exchanging non-star ACs with 5-Star

Staff Reporter

To help consumers beat the heat while being low on electricity bills, Tata Power Delhi Distribution limited (Tata Power-DDl) has re-launched its popular '5 Star AC scheme' for its customers in North and North-West Delhi.

Under the scheme, Tata Power-DDl customers can exchange their non-star ACs for 1.5 Ton BEE 5 star rated Window or Inverter Split AC and avail a discount of up to 45 per cent on 'Maximum Retail Price' MRP for various models of ACs from leading brands like Voltas, Godrej and Hitachi.

Besides providing a discount on the market price, the scheme would also help consumers save up to Rs 6,000 on their electricity bills annually depending upon their usage, thereby offering them twin advantages.

The scheme will be valid for 10,000 domestic customers on the first come first serve basis. Tata Power-DDl consumers can avail the scheme against their CA numbers (Max of 3 ACs per CA Number) mentioned in the electricity bills.

The scheme has been targeted at households as the domestic sector accounts for almost 50 per cent of energy consumption in Delhi and ACs power consumption is a key component of the same. It is estimated that 5 star rated ACs can help reduce electricity consumption sharply.

Commenting on the launch of the scheme, Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD of  Tata Power-DDl said, “As a responsible power distribution company we have been constantly advocating and incentivizing energy conservation schemes for the benefit of consumers. We have launched various DSM schemes like UJAlA, lED lighting schemes, 5 Star Fans et al to help the consumer save power and reduce electricity bill. The recently launched 5 Star AC Scheme is also a step in this direction. I believe our customers will avail this scheme in large numbers and take benefit from the same.To avail the scheme, consumers will have to visit our Customer Care Centers along with the latest electricity bill, photo identity and address proofs.
