The fate of the Taj Mansingh Hotel is likely to be decided on Thursday. The issue of extension of lease of the five-star hotel will be discussed in the general meeting of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
The council will also review a report based on which it will finally decide as to whether the hotel should be auctioned or will stay with Indian Hotels Company (IHC), but with a few modifications.
The council had earlier decided upon a resolution that the matter will be deliberated upon in a special meeting. No such meeting was held till date.
“The key issue to be discussed in the council meeting is that of Taj Mansingh Hotel. The issue is significant as we have to take a final call very soon. In the meeting held in April, the council had decided to wait for the orders from the court. Now everything will be reviewed including the survey conducted by the appointed consultant,” said a senior NDMC official.
The Delhi High Court in April had sought a response from the corporation over the issue. The Indian Hotels Company, in its suit had urged the court to restrain the civic body from auctioning the hotel which is built on its land.
Other issues like reviewing the New Settlement Policy for recovering pending electricity and water dues and deciding upon the moratorium period for Dilli Haat in INA, with Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC), will also be discussed.
Besides, the council will also take notice of the conduct of the audit carried out by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) for the NDMC.
