Four persons, including a woman police officer, were injured after protesters clashed with police officials in Outer Delhi’s Rohini area. The protesters had first gathered at the school and then marched towards Rohini East Metro station.

Scores of protesters clashed with police against alleged molestation of a two-and-a half-year old student at a playschool in Rohini area. The protesters first reached the school and demanded that police seal the premises. When the police officers refused to do so, the protesters turned violent. Someone in the crowd allegedly threw a stone which hurt a woman constable deployed there. It was then that police office resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse the crowd. Protesters also blocked the road near Rohini East Metro station and raised anti-police slogans during their sit-in. Parents also alleged that over 20 children have complained and tested positive for urinary tract infection and claim that they might have been assaulted as well.

The incident came to light on Thursday afternoon when the victim’s mother went to the playschool to pick her up. The girl pointed a finger at Amit Tiwari (35) and alleged he assaulted her regularly. Police later arrested Tiwari and booked him under various Sections of Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and IPC. “We fear the playschool caretaker might have done ungodly things to other children as well,” said a parent. Meanwhile, police said that they are scanning the playschool’s CCTV footage to track Tiwari’s movement.

“legal action as per law was taken on the complaint of the girl and the accused was arrested. We have requested the other parents to give us a written complaint and necessary action will be taken. Further investigations are underway,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Vikramjit Singh.
