The Delhi University (DU) will conduct a special drive for reserve category students belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Backward Caste (OBC) after the fifth general cut-off. For it, the affiliated colleges will have to apprise the university about the number of reserve category seats left with them after the conclusion of admissions after the fifth cut-off.
This special drive will be centralized in nature i.e. the SC, ST and OBC students will not have to approach colleges for taking admission but a common centre somewhere in University. This drive will admit students on the basis of cut-off based on marks.
"These left over reserve category seats would be filled based on merit. The students of SC,ST and OBC will not have to run from one place to another for taking admission but a common centre designated for this purpose in Delhi University," said Ramananda Singh, Academic Council (AC) member.
last year even after announcement of more than 10 general cut-offs several seats of reserved category remained unfilled. Due to which DU had to conduct special drives for filling these reserved category seats. As a result reserved category admissions continued even after the start of classes for the academic session.
This year DU is planning to fill reserve category seats only after fifth general cut-off and thus all admissions are expected to be made before the commencement of the classes for the academic session (2018-19).
The Online registration for admissions to Undergraduate (UG) courses academic session 2018-19 is likely to begin from 11 May.
