With Delhi Budget, comes a happy announcement for travelers. In order to boost tourism in the State, the Delhi Government has announced a special project for Qutub Minar wherein a skywalk will be constructed that will directly link the Qutub Minar metro station to the monument itself.
“In a first of its kind proposal, a skywalk way from Qutub Minar Metro Station to Qutub Minar will be developed in 2016-17,” said Finance Minister Manish Sisodia.
Delhi BJP’s leader Praveen Shankar Kapoor condemned the Delhi Government for bringing an anti-heritage proposal of Sky walk from Qutub Minar to Qutub Metro Station. “Qutub Minar area is a protected World Heritage Area where no such scheme can be built. The proposal seems to be brought for public appeasement and is far away from reality. During the planning of Metro line itself it got clear no construction can be done around Qutub Minar and the Metro line route had to take a long detour,” he said.
Delhi Government also announced that it is planning to organise a world-class festival called the Delhi festival.
