Skittish BJP running scared of elections, AAP gloats

With the Delhi BJP deciding to go faceless in the upcoming polls, the Aam Aadmi Party is strategically reaping all benefits out of it. The party on Wednesday said that the skittish saffron party “fears announcing its CM candidate as it is scared of losing polls”. The party which has planned to keep most of its candidates intact claimed it would win at least 45 seats in the polls to the 70-member House.

On a day when the Union Cabinet recommended dissolution of Delhi Assembly, AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal appeared confident enough to win an easy majority and snorted that the BJP was “too weak to even announce a CM candidate”.“We have been preparing for fresh polls since July. It was the BJP who was busy in horse trading and wasting time hampering important developmental works in the city. And now when we are going for polls it is again using the Prime Minister’s face. There is no one in the Delhi BJP unit to project as a leader,” said the former Chief Minister.

The former Delhi CM accused BJP of trying to form a Government by “hook or by crook”, and thanked AAP legislators for “foiling” efforts by that party to take the reins of Delhi through “unfair means”.“BJP was trying to form Government through dishonesty. Four attempts by them to form Government had been foiled. Finally following court’s intervention, they were forced to recommend dissolution of the Delhi Assembly,” Kejriwal added.

The AAP chief also referred to a video released in September by his party in which Delhi BJP vice president Sher Singh Dagar purportedly offered Rs4 crore to an AAP MlA. BJP had issued a showcause notice to Dagar.“This is probably for the first time in history of India that dishonest efforts to influence even a single MlA did not succeed. It proved that not everyone is for sale. There is still honesty,” he said, adding, “I congratulate all party MlAs for foiling BJP’s attempt.”
