Gurugram Police has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the gangrape of a 19-year-old woman, and murder of her 9-month old daughter, who was thrown off the auto-rickshaw in which she was travelling.
The gruesome incident happened on late Monday evening when the woman after having a tiff with her husband had left her house and took the auto in which three men were already travelling. They allegedly took turns in raping her, and threw out her infant daughter out of the auto-rickshaw after she started crying. The baby died and her body was recovered from sector-8 in IMT-Manesar.
It has been revealed that the woman was taken around on the highway and in around Manesar for almost three to four hours before being dumped in Manesar.
Police meanwhile, said that a case of murder was registered on May 30 but later on June 3, the charges of gangrape were added after she told the investigating officer (IO) about it, said a police officer.
Gurugram Police Commissioner Sandeep Khirwar told The Pioneer that an SIT headed by Manesar ACP Dharamvir Singh will investigate the case.
The Police Commissioner has also sought information from the Manesar police regarding the status of the investigation and the case file.
An officer involved in the investigation said that Manesar Police is taking the help of the victim to prepare a sketch of the accused who allegedly raped her. Police also took the victim from her husband’s residence at Bas Kusla village near Manesar to the auto stands to identify the culprits.
Police gathering information and data about the auto operators who ply in this route and other nearby routes on the highway are also being verified to get a clue about the culprits.
The victim belongs to Muzaffarpur district, in Bihar, also told the police that all the culprits were drunk and they misbehaved and beat her as soon they crossed IMT Manesar chowk. The accused allegedly drove with her to Kherki Daula, took a u-turn and returned to Manesar and during this period they gangraped her.
They threw out the woman’s daughter, who was just 9-months-old, near Sector-8 in Manesar. The victim was also threatened that she would be killed if she tell anyone about the incident.
The victim was travelling from her house in Bas Kusla to her in-laws’ house in Village Khandsa after a tiff with her husband, who earlier had a heated argument with their neighbours.
Prior to taking the auto, the victim had stopped a canter for a lift but preferred to leave it as the canter driver had allegedly misbehaved with her.
According to the police, the woman took her child and took the metro to Delhi. She later took the metro again and returned to Gurugram.
DCP (south) Ashok Bakshi said that initially a complaint against three men was filed for the death of the girl under section 302. later, the charges of rape were added on June 3 as the woman complained about it.
The result of the postmortem report of the girl and medical report of the woman is still awaited, the DCP added.
