The Delhi Police on Monday said it had busted a gang of racketeers involved in leaking all four sets of question papers for the examination for recruitment of constables for the Railway Protection Force (RPF).

The national level tests were being conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), Gorakhpur. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Crime Branch carried out a raid and on subsequent arrests of the accused people, recovered six mobile phones, a handwritten answer key, admit cards bearing names, addresses and roll number of six candidates with their respective question papers and the answer sheets.

The solved answer keys of all the four sets of the All India level examination were sent via text messages to the candidates.

“The accused have been identified as Rahul Mavi (20), Tapish (24), Sunny (22), Robin Kumar Nain (24), Sohanpal (22) and Tapender (26). The well-heeled racket was unearthed during the examination for the post of constables in the RPF on Sunday. The mobile phones containing answer keys of all the four sets of question papers in the form of messages smuggled inside the venue were also seized,” said Additional Commissioner of Police Crime Branch, Ravindra Yadav.

The level of penetration of the gang shocked the investigators as the crooks were armed with all the possible answers. They had also ensured that the candidates were allowed to carry cell phones inside the examination hall, Yadav added.

Acting on a tip-off that organised cheating was being planned, the sleuths laid a trap to apprehend the accused.

The one-and-half-hour examination was to begin at 11:00 am and end at 12:30 pm. The six accused were solving the questions with the help of answer keys sent to them through text messages on their mobile phones. They were questioned at length and it was revealed that the candidates were in touch with different touts who promised them to provide the answer keys of the question papers for a price of Rs3 lakh each or even more.
