Irked by the Income Tax notice served to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday lashed out at the Union Government, holding it responsible for targeting the AAP ahead of Gujarat polls out of vengeance. Sisodia even alleged that I-T department and other Central agencies are working on the diktats of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Central Government in an unfair manner.

The Deputy Chief Minister reiterated that his party keeps the account of each and every penny received via donations in a very transparent manner. The AAP has already apprised I-T and other departments of the donations it received, on several occasions, he said.

He even showed a donation worth Rs 11 received by the party online to assert his point that it's the “aam aadmi's money or the common man who gives donation to the AAP. Further, he alleged that only 13 per cent of the donations received by the BJP are accounted for while the rest of donations are unaccounted. Sisodia also took on the Congress alleging that it took donations even from Public Sector Units (PSUs) which are Government-run entities.

“These are the details of the money which we received from aam aadmi or common men; this is not the money of some Adani or Ambani,” said Sisodia. “Ye Dalali ka paisa nahi hai,” he said. He even claims that the AAP is the only party after Independence which maintains high level of transparency and fairness in maintenance of its accounts.

“The Central Government is attacking AAP and Kejriwal deliberately and trying to pressurise them ahead of Gujarat polls. From the day, Kejriwal said that BJP should be defeated in Gujarat polls they as are vengeful,” said Sisodia.

The I-T department had served a Rs 30-crore notice to the AAP on Monday, asking why said amount should not be recovered from party. The I-T department had declared all donations received by party as illegal. The I-T notice had evoked sharp reactions from the AAP as the leaders termed it vendetta and harassment.
