A gang war unfolded on the Tis Hazari court premises in North Delhi on Tuesday morning when an undertrial criminal from Haryana was shot at while he was exiting the court after his appearance. Police said a member of rival gang opened fire on the victim. The prisoner sustained one bullet injury on his left shoulder. The accused, suspected to be a minor, was chased and arrested by a Delhi Police team.

Police said that the incident took place around 12 pm when the victim, Dinesh Karala, a member of Jitender Gogi gang, was being escorted to a jail van parked in Tis Hazari court complex. Police said that suddenly a youth approached Karala and fired upon him with a country made pistol. Karala sustained injury on his left shoulder. Seeing him collapse, the assailant fled from the spot.

Jatin Narwal, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North said that Karala was fired upon by a youth, later identified as a member of Tillu gang. "Dinesh had his hearing scheduled at Tis Hazari on Tuesday morning and was produced from Rohtak jail by Haryana police. The incident happened near the gate number two of the court premises when Karala was sitting inside a Haryana police vehicle. He was rushed to a hospital and is under treatment,"

The accused, was however chased and arrested by a joint team of north district and special cell.

Sanjeev Yadav, deputy commissioner of police (special cell) said, Karala, a close associate of wanted and absconding gangster Jitender alias Gogi, was brought to Tiz Hazari Court for hearing in a case of robbery registered against him at Ranhola police station. "A team of special cell that was present inside the court, chased and nabbed a juvenile, a resident of Rohtak in Haryana. The pistol used by the accused was also recovered from him," Yadav said, adding that the shootout was fallout of an old rivalry between Jitender Gogi gang and Sunil Tillu gang.
