Sharpen those pencils: Admission stress test is only getting harder

Confusion prevailed at the Kamla Nehru College on the first day of admissions, as parents and students were clueless about the procedure for submission of the fees. Online applicants were not able to pay the fees as the

system was not updated. Moreover, the college authorities did not even allow them to pay the fees at the counter. Even students who applied offline had to wait for their application forms to get checked and verified before they could pay the fees. This procedure had them waiting for hours which led to ultimate chaos in the absence of clarity.

There were long queues outside the fee counter at the college as the administration was mostly unresponsive. Parents were complaining about the lack of clarity regarding the procedure for paying the fees. “The admissions are being held in a disorganised manner. Nobody is telling us the procedure through which the fees should be paid and we don’t even know where we can address this issue,” said Paridhi Chaudhary, who was applying for journalism in the college.

The online admission process was where the maximum problem arose. Parents were not able to make transactions as the server was not updated. “I wanted to pay in cash as I didn’t have an online mode of payment. But I was denied to do so. Since we filled up the online forms correctly, the college asked us to pay online,” said Das Nupur from Faridabad who wanted admission in English Honours.

Media coordinator of the college, Geetesh Nirban, said that the problem would be taken care of on Wednesday. “Since it is the first day there are bound to be problems. This will not be repeated,” she said.
