The Gurugram police on Monday arrested six women and two men, including a spa owner and the manager, for allegedly operating a sex racket from a spa and massage centre in Gurugram.
The arrested have been booked under different sections of the Immoral Trafficking & Prevention Act and an FIR has been registered against them at the Sector-5 police station.
Police said there was an information about this spa where a prostitution racket was being run. A male constable was sent as a decoy customer and visited the spa on Monday night. A police team that lay in wait then raided the spa named as “Three Days Spa and Massage Centre” after the decoy signaled them about the deal being struk. The spa was located at the first floor of the CMS complex in sector-5 area in old Gurugram. Police detained eight persons from the spot.
The raid was conducted by a police team, led by Inspector Vivek Kundu, who reached the spot and arrested the culprits red-handed who were soliciting sex.
“At the time of the raid, room in the message centre was occupied where a woman and man were found in objectionable position,” the police said.
Police said this spa is reportedly owned by a woman. For the past several days, the police had been receiving complaints about an illegal activity being carried out in the spa.
The all accused were produced in the court on Tuesday and sent to judicial custody in Bhondsi jail.
“Further investigation is underway and we are collecting more information about the involvement of any other person,” said Ravinder Kumar, public relations officer of Gurugram police.
It may be noted that the Gurugram police have cracked down on about 31 spa and massage centers this year with the arrest of over 158 people. Police says that such centers operate legally in the city, most center offer lucrative packages to attract people.
Police also claimed that most of the spa and massage centers are operational in upscale areas like malls situated on Mehrauli-Gurugram Road, Sohna Road and Golf Course Road. Besides from this, many center also operate from prominent residential localities such as DlF 1, 2, Sushant lok, South City, sector 50, 53, 56, Palam Vihar and the old Gurugram.
