Staff Reporter

With Delhi University announcing its seventh cut-off list, most of the colleges have brought down the percentage of courses with many points for the reserved categories. likely there will not be another list by some colleges. However in case of the reserved categories colleges need to follow the university guidelines unless all the vacant seats are filled. However admission to general category seat remained open in a selective few.

At the Hansraj College, cut-off for ST category in Sanskrit Honours is 45 per cent and for SC category in History it is 77 per cent and for Economics it is 84 per cent while in OBC Economics remains open with 91 per cent marks. At Ramjas, admissions in Commerce for general category is open with a per cent of 95.7 per cent but the same is open with 91.5 per cent for OBC category.

The cut-off for the reserved category in other courses is set above 70 per cent except Hindi and Sanskrit honours where 63 per cent is required for a humanities aspirant (ST), 69 per cent by SC candidate in Hindi honours and 55 per cent by OBC candidate, 45 per cent by SC candidate and 48 per cent for OBC candidate in Sanskrit honours.

Colleges like Kalindi College, Ram lal Anand College, Sri Venkateshwara College and others too have set slightly low criteria of percentage to fill their vacant seats.

Dean of Students’ Welfare JM Khurana said “We will have to review the situation on Friday and  if seats still remain vacant there needs to be more cut off lists.” Khurana underlined that the university has special provision for admission for the OBC candidates in which colleges give a relaxation of 10 per cent in the minimum eligibility marks of the said course and for SC and ST relaxation is given up to 5 per cent. In case the seats remain vacant further relaxation would be given to fill up all the reserved seats for SC and ST under the reserved quota of 22.5 per cent.

However if OBC’s 27 per cent reserved seats remain vacant on the last date of admission, the same will be filled up by other eligible

candidates.
