A local court has convicted a man for raping his 15-year-old step-daughter with whom he has a baby boy.

The quantum of sentence is to be decided on December 1. The girl — who was threatened by her step-father for not divulging it — disclosed the trauma to her mother after she started falling sick regularly and it came to light that she was five months pregnant.

The victim resides in Munirka Village with her mother, 8-year-old brother and step-father, Mukesh, who married her mother in 2002.

Her mother used to work as a maid on the IIT campus. According to her complainant, Mukesh  had been molesting her since 2009, when she turned 11, and in May 2013 he raped her for the first time and threatened to kill her mother if she disclosed the incident to anyone.

The mother of the victim who was reluctant to file a complaint against Mukesh earlier, called the child helpline and the victim was taken to an NGO for counselling. The newborn was given for adoption.
