Nimesh Desai, Director for Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences (IHBAS) said that sensation seeking and adolescents who are more prone to alienation are the ones who move towards these drugs.
We need to see the larger picture on a larger scale. “look at alcohol. The society has in a way not stopped, but permitted it. Sometimes group situations force an individual to try these drugs. It’s like modelling for belongingness. No doubt status symbol is a fact; high-end drugs are for the rich and fortunately in a country like India they are expensive,” he said.
