In order to segregate waste at source and to manage urban waste, the East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Cure, a co-operative society.
EDMC Commissioner Dr Ranbir Singh said that the corporation is fully committed towards making the city clean and contributing towards the Swachh Bharat Mission. He further said that the move reinforces our commitment towards cleanliness.
Initially, the project would start in five blocks of two wards of Trilokpuri, covering 2,000-2,500 houses. During this drive, garbage dumpers would be trained on the segregation of urban solid waste and its management, a senior EDMC official said.
Also, citizens would be informed on correct ways of garbage segregation, so that the waste management and disposal can be done in a proper manner, the official said.
