In the wake of an escalating armed conflict between India and Pakistan, security measures have been significantly intensified across the national capital. On Thursday, Delhi witnessed a substantial deployment of additional forces, including paramilitary personnel, at key installations and sensitive locations, as authorities brace for any potential threat.

The heightened alert comes after Pakistani military forces allegedly attempted to target multiple locations in India late Wednesday night. These included strategic points such as Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj. The Indian Armed Forces successfully thwarted the attacks, with retaliatory action leading to the destruction of a Pakistani air defence system in Lahore.

In Delhi, Special Commissioners from all police zones are holding strategic meetings with Deputy Commissioners of all 15 districts to assess preparedness and ensure swift coordination. “All DCPs are actively monitoring law and order in their areas. They have briefed their subordinate officers including ACPs and SHOs, and are personally supervising the situation,” said a senior police source.

Security checks and surveillance have been tightened at crowded public locations, including malls, markets, metro stations, hotels, residential colonies, airports, and tourist attractions. Police are working closely with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and other agencies to ensure round-the-clock safety.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Abhishek Dhania confirmed that thorough inspections were carried out at key metro stations such as Mayur Vihar Phase-1. “The station is secured with 41 operational CCTV cameras covering all critical points. In every shift, 7 male and 2 female CISF personnel are deployed to ensure strong security for commuters,” he said. A coordination meeting was also held to review anti-terror preparedness at the station.

Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS) conducted anti-sabotage checks in various districts. DCP (Southwest) Surendra Choudhary noted that extensive checks were carried out at malls, markets, and hotels to reinforce safety and vigilance. “These drills are part of our preparedness strategy to detect and neutralize potential threats proactively,” he stated.

Vehicle checks, particularly at Delhi’s border areas, have been significantly increased. DCP (Rohini) Amit Goel said, “We have intensified vehicle inspections to prevent unauthorized or suspicious entries into the capital. It’s part of our layered anti-terror security plan.”

Additional forces have been stationed in sensitive areas such as New Delhi, Central Delhi, the cantonment zone, and around the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. Security at tourist hotspots has also been beefed up.

Senior police officials confirmed that meetings were held with Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and Market Welfare Associations (MWAs) to ensure community-level alertness. Security guards at various commercial and residential premises have been briefed to stay

vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activities.

Mock drills simulating emergency scenarios were also carried out, involving police, fire services, civil defence volunteers, medical teams, and disaster management units. Meanwhile, cyber surveillance has been ramped up, with law enforcement closely monitoring social media platforms to detect and curb misinformation or potential threats.

Delhi remains on high alert, with law enforcement agencies working in tandem to ensure peace and public safety in these tense times.
