SDMC’s SOPs to ensure disposal of sludge

Staff Reporter

The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has prepared a ‘Standard Operating Procedure’ (SOP) to ensure proper disposal of sludge generated from septic tanks from households of unauthorized colonies, a senior civic body official said. The move is taken to avoid dumping sludge into drains. “We will transport it to the nearest ‘Sewage Treatment Plant’ of the Delhi Jal Board for proper disposal. Residents of such areas may contact 206 registered ‘desludging’ operators, the list of which is available on SDMC’s website,” he added.

As per the action plan, no septic tank cleaning should be carried out without informing SDMC.
