A 28-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his friend when the two had an argument over their respective girlfriends in South district’s Vasant Vihar area on Monday morning.

The accused, identified as Rigen, was arrested within 12 hours. Rigen works as a waiter at a South Delhi-based restaurant.

According to police, the incident took place around 6.45 am on Monday. The deceased, Arun, and Rigen were consuming liquor at a friend’s place in Munirka, when an argument surfaced between the two. Rigen and Arun started commenting at each others’ girlfriends.

Arun kept making objectionable comments at Rigen’s girlfriend; in a fit of anger he took a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Arun around five times. He then fled from the place.

“Rigen is a resident of Nepal and was arrested from the ISBT bus stand when he was trying to flee from the Capital,” said a police official.

A case of murder was registered at Vasant Vihar Police Station. Arun worked as a small-time property dealer in Munirka.
