A daring rescue of a three-year-old child by two police personnel from the kidnappers, who had murdered his mother in Mayur Vihar, was the result of a laborious operation involving 20 joint teams of the Delhi Police and the Uttarakhand Police.

29-year-old Mohi was strangulated and her three-year-old son Ishu was abducted by two persons in East Delhi’s Mayur Vihar Phase III  area on August 24.

The child was rescued on August 26 evening and two of his abductors were nabbed after days of meticulous and careful investigation. According to the police, the two alleged abductors of the child, Digvijay alias Vijay (23) and Sachin alias Monu (20) were arrested on Monday evening after a confrontation with the cops and a chase on the banks of river Ganga in Haridwar.

Delhi Police Sub Inspector Arun and Constable Vivek of SOG, Haridwar were injured in the incident as the kidnappers attacked them with surgical knives while the two cops succeeded in saving the child and nabbing the accused. Police also recovered 10 mobile phones, jewellery and the weapons; which included sharped-edged surgical knives,  syringe and chloroform.

“During investigation, it was learnt that Digvijay, an ex-employee of Inamullah along with his associates was involved in the crime. On Monday, the kidnappers along with the child were in Rishikesh after which they left for Haridwar in the morning,” said Additional DCP (East) Mandeep Singh Randhawa.

“A team of Delhi Police SI Arun and Constable Vivek saw three persons with a child under Chandi bridge. SI Arun  snatched the child from Digvijay, who tried to attack the child with a surgical knife which Arun took on his arm and sustained a deep injury, police said. Meanwhile, Sachin stabbed Constable Vivek on his stomach and he and Keshav fled from the spot,” said Randhawa.
