During meeting, Bhardwaj was informed by the officials that out of 18 drains which fall into Yamuna, 16 have been trapped, three drains are diverted to STPs for treatment and for  remaining drains of Najafgarh drain and Shahdara drain, Interceptor Sewer Projects (ISPs) are constructed to trap sub-drains that would otherwise merge with main drains and ultimately outfall in Yamuna.

“Also, 108 sub-drains that used to outfall in Najafgarh Drain have been trapped by DJB,” said an official.

“The review meeting also focused on eliminating the challenge of wastewater from sewers entering the storm water drains that pollutes the fresh water sources,” said an official.
