'Ryan Group will decide acting principal Batra's fate'

The Gurugram district administration has denied reports that it had given any clearance to Ryan Group regarding taking back the former acting principal of Ryan International School Bhondsi in Sector-40 so that she could continue to work as a teacher.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Administrator of Ryan International School, Vinay Pratap Singh said that he had not given any order for transfer or employment of Neerja Batra in any Ryan School as she had been suspended in the aftermath of the murder of a 7-year-old boy at the Bhondsi branch.

“How can I give any order related with the appointment of a teacher to another branch as it completely depends on the Ryan Group managemnet whether they want Neerja Batra in their school or not. I am only the administrator of Ryan International School’s Bhondsi Branch. No such order has been passed by the administration,” the DC said.

“We didn’t pressurise any Ryan School branch or management to allow Neerja Batra. Ryan is a private organisation and the administration cannot  interfere with their internal  decisions,” the DC, said.

It may be noted that the DC was made administrator of Ryan International School’s Bhondsi branch after the Haryana Government took over  the control of the school for three months. Batra, the acting principal of Ryan International Bhondsi branch, was suspended after the September 8 murder of the 7-year-old boy, allegedly by a school bus conductor Ashok Kumar, after the boy resisted an attempt to sodomise him.

Meanwhile, an official of the Sector-40 branch on the condition of anonymity said, “The matter is under investigation and we cannot allow her to join us. She still remains suspended from her job. “Batra had come to start work here last Monday. She also didn’t have any written order transferring her to our branch. It is the Ryan Institution to decide her job situation,” the official, said.

Meanwhile, Varun Thakur, father of Pradyuman said, “If the order was passed by the DC, it is totally wrong and unacceptable. The case was just handed over to the CBI and how can he grant permission to a suspended principal to join another school”.

Earlier, according to the sources, DC, in the order, had said that after discussion with stakeholders, he has decided to send Batra to the Ryan school Sector-40 branch.

Parents of students of the Sector-40 branch were shocked about the decision and are planning to stage a protest if former acting principal is allowed to work in the school.

“The Sector-40 branch of the group has decided to not allowing her to join here. We will support the school decision. Batra was not directly involved in the incident but the crime was taken place under her jurisdiction,” Raman Verma a parent, said.
