Retired Assistant Commissioner of Police Satbir Singh Dahiya was found dead at his residence on Sunday morning in Outer Delhi's Rohini area. Police said that it may be a case of murder as there were two bullet injury marks on his body.

Police said that Dahiya's body was found lying in a pool of blood with a pistol lying next to his body at his Vijeta Vihar (Rohini Sector 13) residence. He lived there alone. The incident came to light when his maid came to the house as usual and found the main door open.

"The body was taken to Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital for post-mortem examination," police said, adding that forensic and crime team were immediately sent to the spot to find the clues. According to the forensic report, Dahiya received two bullet injuries, one in his chest and another in his temple. The police said that though the pistol found at the crime spot belonged to Dahiya, it is yet to be figured out whether the bullets were used from the same pistol. "No suicide note has been recovered," said a police officer.

Prime facie it seems that he might have been overpowered by assailants and then killed, the policeman added. The investigators are taking the mysterious death of Dahiya as a case of murder and probing into that angle. "We are questioning people in his neighbourhood and are reviewing major cases that he has solved as we suspect that he was targeted by assailants who were arrested by him during his service," said the officer.

The 65-year-old officer's wife lived in Rohtak, Haryana, after some dispute with him and his two sons are settled in Australia. "We have informed the family members and his wife has already come while his sons are yet to arrive," added the officer.
