A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against him at Delhi Cantt police station. The driver of the offending vehicle, Tata Sumo SUV, has been identified as Sohanlal (40), a resident of Pinjore Haryana. He was taking the Chief Accounts Officer of Haryana Government for a meeting in Gurgaon on Delhi’s outskirts.

“The incident took place around 12.06 pm on Parade Road in Delhi Cantt area. The Tata Sumo hit Bhagwat’s cavalcade when he was on the way to the airport. No one was injured in the incident. He has been arrested for rash and negligent driving,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South West) Suman Goyal. The Chief Accounts Officer was allowed to go after brief questioning, he added.

As per police, the Tata Sumo had hit an escort vehicle in Bhagwat’s cavalcade which in turn hit the RSS chief’s car. Bhagwat was to take a flight to Gorakhpur. He left in his private vehicle to the airport from the accident spot. RSS spokesperson Ram Madhav later tweeted, “Bhagwatji is perfectly ok and left on his tour”. “Due to the impact of the crash, the security vehicle was pushed forward and slowly pushed Bhagwatji’s vehicle.
