A gang of armed robbers looted cash worth over Rs 15 lakh and a Gypsy from a Maruti showroom, Regent Enterprises owned by the kin of Haryana’s former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala, on Wednesday night.

The manager of the showroom, Bhairav Ghosh, reported the theft to the police on Thursday and said that on the night of March 15, a gang of eight criminals armed with pistols barged into the showroom.

The FIR states that the criminals kept the security guards Pradeep and Aswini hostage on gun point.

“One of them started the Gypsy and another person took a cash box which had Rs 15 lakh. They then fled from the scene of the crime,” said a senior police officer.

The criminals did not face any resistance when they entered the showroom from the back door as the guards were at the front door and did not realise that the showroom was being looted. But when they tried to leave  with the Gypsy the security guards posed a resistance.

“The criminals then tied the guards up with cords  to a pillar and fled with the cash and the vehicle. Next morning, the guards informed the showroom manager about the incident who lodged the complaint with the police,” said the police official. “We have registered the complaint and efforts are being made to nab the criminals” said SP City Salman Taj Patil.
