To bring more people to the polling booths, the Chief Electoral Office of Delhi has decided to stage road-shows, street-plays and conduct public awareness campaigns.

The campaign is being conceptualised for generating interest among the city's electorate, to make them realise the importance of their votes and participate in the biggest democratic process.

Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Dev said that the election office has directed all the Deputy Commissioners (Revenue) to examine the reasons of those polling booths where voters' turn-out was lowest. He further informed that the Election Commission of India hailed the steps taken by the Delhi Electoral Office to enrol more young voters in the elector list. Dev said that an analysis shows that the poll percentage in Assembly and General elections has been quite dismal in the national Capital as compared to other parts of the country.

Earlier, the Director General of Election Commission of India, Akshay Rout hailed the Electoral Office of Delhi for having taken steps on priority basis to enrol more youths, women and homeless voters. The Election Commission of India had conducted a survey through various agencies. It had applied a new method called 'Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP)' to educate and motivate young voters across the country. The Election Commission of India has reviewed the preparedness of all five States which are going to Assembly polls this year and found that Delhi is well prepared for it. Raut, further stated that the Commission is satisfied with the plan of the Delhi Electoral Officials and is confident that people's participation in the forthcoming Assembly polls will record an increase.
