In an apparent case of road rage, a 28-year-old woman journalist and her colleague were roughed up and misbehaved by SUV and truck drivers near Delhi-Noida border in east Delhi’s Mayur Vihar area on Wednesday morning. The victim, who works with a private news channel, was returning home after the night shift. The incident took place around 6.30 am on Wednesday, when the complainant Chanchal Saini, resident of Shakarpur, was on her way back to her home along with her colleague Dilip Pandey.

While approaching towards Mayur Vihar from Ambedkar Park in Noida, a speeding truck passed their car in such a manner that they almost had an accident. On this, the journalist and her colleague decided to overtake the truck and report about his rash driving to the police. In her complaint, she told the police that they stopped the car near Chilla police post to approach the police. In the meantime two men in a scorpion, one of them identified as Ravi, stopped and started arguing with the duo. The truck driver, identified as Pawan (27) joined them. She said that instead of being apologetic for their actions, Ravi and Pawan started arguing with her and her colleague.

“They then misbehaved with Saini and roughed up Pandey,” she said in the complaint. A call was made and police immediately swung into action. The Scorpio occupant Ravi and truck driver Pawan have been detained from the spot. Pandey’s medical examination was also conducted after which a case under relevant Sections was registered at the Mayur Vihar police station.
