In a bid to provide relief to the people of Delhi, the Punjab National Bank (PNB) has started distributing cash by organising “Mega Micro ATM Camp” at different places in the national Capital.
Relisec Consultancy Services, which is responsible for distributing money, had on Thursday organised a mega camp at various places in Delhi, distributing approximately Rs40 lakh at New Delhi Railway Station, gate number five, metro station, said an official of the PNB.
Twelve micro ATMs were placed at different locations at the New Delhi Metro station alone and one could get cash in their desired denomination as notes of Rs20, Rs50 and Rs100 available in sufficient quantity.
The move provided huge relief for people and help in reducing chaos around the Walled city. Soon after official and staff of the PNB and Relisec consultancy started distributing cash, people around the area gathered and even informed their known one by calling them.
GC Vohra, vice president of Relisec Consultancy, said, “We have allowed people to withdraw cash up to Rs2,500 with one debit card. A total of 2,000 transactions have been done today (Thursday) in which approximately Rs40 lakh cash distributed”.
After withdrawing Rs2,000 from a micro ATM at New Delhi Railway station, Sonali Verma, a teacher at a coaching institute at Mukherjee Nagar, said standing in a queue to get cash for three or four hours would mean cancelling all the classes. “I rather prefer to borrow money from my friends. I haven’t been able to withdraw cash so far because I couldn’t spare the hours to stand in queue for long but today my luck is back,” she said after withdrawing. Now I can travel in a relaxed frame of mind,” she said.
“All these day I have been waking up in the morning and standing in line in hope of getting cash from ATM but as usual I returned back and again followed the same routine the next day but today I withdraw cash within five minutes at micro ATM by swiping debit card. It is a good practice and should continue till the crisis is over,” said Adarsh Srivastava, a student of Delhi University who was going to board a train at New Delhi railway station.
Meanwhile in areas around New Delhi, Chawri Bazar, Chandni Chowk, Connaught Place, a few people were seen standing in queue at banks.”The situation is now getting on track after the recalibration of ATMs and we hope that things will further improve” said Harish who works in a store in Connaught Place.
